MICHAEL & tabitha

Michael and Tabitha have been together for 15 years,  married for seven. They met at the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!) when Tabitha was participating in his fraternity's scholarship pageant. The way Michael tells it, he found Tabitha quite annoying, but she likes to say he was just ignoring how he truly felt about her.

In April 2016, a couple of years after Tabitha graduated law school, and living in Atlanta, Michael proposed in Orlando in front of their family and friends. Michael even had a small choir serenade her with a playlist he had been playing for months! They married on one of the coldest days in Atlanta on January 7, 2018, at the Old Historic Decatur Courthouse. They had no idea what was in store for them. They traveled to the Caribbean, out of the country, attended plenty of sport games, and shared wonderful moments with friends and family. They also learned to navigate tough life situations, such as job instability, career changes, injuries, marriage miscommunication and growth, the grief of losing friendships, losing a parent and losing their daughter, Gabriela. They are not the same two college students that met back in 2009, but they still choose to love each other through it all.

GABRIELA
&
eliana

We currently live in Georgia with our daughter, Eliana, who was born 11 months after Gabriela. As one can imagine, pregnancy after loss is a slow journey of worry until your child arrives. Even after they arrive, once you've lost a child, the worry doesn't quite go away.

We are both intentional about sharing and acknowledging Gabriela with Eliana. Gabriela is very much a part of our family, even if she is not physically here. She will always be Eliana's older sister.

We made a promise to Gabriela and this foundation is how we keep that promise to her. There isn't a day that goes by where we don't think about her. We never imagined we would have to live without her, but since we do, we are going to do the best we can to honor her and share her story with you.

We hope that in doing so, you know that you are not alone.
